Wounded Hero Career Network
The tools to move on and move up.
Discipline and commitment. Two important qualities our wounded heroes learn in the military, and two qualities that are invaluable to employers. How are these qualities parlayed into a job in the civilian world? The Coalition to Salute America's Heroes has six employment and development programs to wounded service-members and their spouses.
Career Counseling and Job Search Assistance – the transition from a military to a civilian career can be difficult. We help wounded troops and their spouses identify career interests, assess your skills and strengths, give advice writing a resume, practice interviewing, and identify local job market opportunities.
Job Shadowing and Mentoring – The Coalition connects heroes with local employers for information sessions about career opportunities, one-on-one mentoring, and job shadowing.
Online training – If heroes need more education in order to pursue new careers, the Coalition has partnered with Skillsoft, the world’s leading e-learning company, to bring you more than 1,500 courses in business, information technology, and desktop skills. Many of these courses can help you earn college credit, continuing education units, and business certifications.
Partner Appreciation Program - This program instructs the spouses and parents of hospitalized veterans training in customer service and allowed them to make phone calls to donors letting them know firsthand how their gift has made an impact. More than 11,000 contributors have been surprised to receive a cheerful “thank you” phone call from a serviceman or woman who has been helped by their generosity.
Entrepreneurship Boot Camp for Veterans- The Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University launched “Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities”, a cutting-edge, experimental training program in entrepreneurship and small business management. The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes helps to recruit and place candidates into the program.
Job Fair-The Road to Recovery Conference and Tribute features a three-day long job fair and offers classes on resume writing, interviewing skills and even hosts an employment panel led by Northrop Grumman, T-Mobile, GM and other corporate friends of CSAH.
