Tony Covell
National Spokesman
While other children dream of becoming professional athletes, Tony grew up in Cedar Springs, MI, wanting to be a soldier. In 1990, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served a tour with the 5th Infantry Division before returning home to settle down and raise a family. Still unable to shake the military bug, Tony re-enlisted in the Army Reserves, serving with the 182nd Transportation Company from Traverse City, MI, and was deployed to Iraq in January 2004. He served nine months with the 706th Transportation Company before an IED explosion left him with third-degree burns on 65 percent of his body, as well as a traumatic brain injury and nerve damage to both his arms and legs.
Currently, Tony lives with his wife and three children in Kaleva, MI, where he spends his time volunteering with the Coalition to Salute Americas Heroes and advocating for veterans' benefits. During his spare time, he enjoys hunting and riding ATVs with his family and friends.
