How We Support Our Troops
Since its inception in 2004, the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes has provided millions of dollars in direct financial relief and support services to disabled American veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
We are helping these brave men and women and their families rebuild their lives in many ways. For some, it’s paying bills because the financial strains of the adjustment are so overwhelming. For others, it’s a computer so they can continue their education. And for some it’s as simple as getting out and going to a concert to break to monotony of rehabilitation. There are four key programs targeted to the specific needs of returning heroes:
Emergency Financial Relief - Direct financial aid to disabled American veterans and their families in crisis.
Road to Recovery Conference - An all-expense paid educational and motivational event for wounded heroes and their families.
Partner Appreciation Program - Part-time, flexible employment to wounded veterans or their primary caregivers that involves making phone calls from their homes, most often to personally thank donors.
Online Education and Training - The opportunity to take up to 1,500 online courses offered through the Coalition's partner, SkillSoft.
Special Events to Meet Needs of Wounded Veterans - Outings to sporting events, hunting and fishing trips, and other activities providing needed recreation and enhancing social interaction with peers who are overcoming their injuries.
Public Outreach - Distribution of greeting cards from the general public to wounded service members in military and VA medical facilities, thanking them for their service and encouraging further correspondence; communicating to the U.S. government about the need for long-term aid and services to our wounded veterans.
Holiday Gift Checks - Distribution of checks to wounded service members and their families just prior to major holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Program Grants - Program grants to other non-profit organizations working with wounded service members and their families.
Field Support to Service Members - CSAH field representatives, located around the country, support the CSAH mission through frequent contact with local VA and DOD medical facilities, veterans organizations and the population at large.

How to apply for assistance
If you or a loved one need assistance, please apply online or email us. If you are facing an eviction, a shut-off of utility services or an emergency need due to a natural disaster, please call our emergency hotline at (914) 432-5400 and choose option 1 to speak with a case manager.
