Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament and Golf Outing Salutes Wounded VeteransIllinois Wrestling Team Coordinates All-day Event with 100% of Proceeds Benefitting Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes Ossining, NY—July 10, 2007- The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes (CSAH) today announced a poker tournament and golf outing that will raise awareness and funds for the wounded veterans it serves. CSAH is the leading nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to rebuilding the lives of severely wounded veterans from operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families. Bud Conrad, founder and coach of the non-profit Illinois-based junior Wolfpack Wrestling team, is sponsoring the weekend to help raise money and support for CSAH. Conrad first learned about CSAH when he took part in another local fundraiser last year that benefitted the organization. He also says he had personal motivations for choosing a charity that helps returning heroes from operations overseas. “A lot of my former wrestlers are over in Iraq or Afghanistan right now so this charity has a special place in my heart,” said Conrad. “The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes has really strong programs that help these men and women return to a normal and fulfilling life. Raising a little money and awareness is the least we can do to help these troops who have sacrificed so much for us. ” This year, Conrad decided to get his team involved in the giving. “Earlier in the year, the team raised money to donate to the Coalition” Conrad said. “They raised over $4,000 and for a group of kids aged 5 to 14, that’s pretty good.” So Conrad and his team decided to sponsor an entire weekend of events at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Lake Geneva, WI and are donating all proceeds to CSAH. “The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes is very excited to be involved with this weekend of golf and poker,” said Ray Clifford, executive director of CSAH. “It is because of groups like the Illinois Wrestling Team that we are able to continue to provide assistance to the troops who are returning with debilitating injuries. We want to thank Mr. Conrad and his team for their support.” On Friday July 13th, a Texas Hold ‘em Tournament starts off the weekend with a $100 buy-in and unlimited buy-ins until the finals begin. There will be prizes for the finalists and a silent auction. On Saturday July 14th, 18 holes of golf begins with a check-in at 11 a.m. and tee-time at 1 p.m. It is $1,000 for a foursome, which includes golf, beverages, dinner, and prizes. Donations to CSAH and other organizations directly impacting the lives of our wounded veterans and their families can be made at www.saluteheroes.org All proceeds from both events go to support CSAH. For more information, please visit www.warriorsgolf.org. Entries for the weekend close July 10th. With a heightened level of concern for the availability of resources to our returning wounded veterans, the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes offers assistance like emergency financial aid, home modifications, family counseling and career counseling to help ease the transition once returning home from war with severe injuries. # # # |
