James Kokas
National Spokesman
During a distinguished 21-year career in the U.S. Army Medical Corp., Jim served two tours in Germany and one each in Panama, Korea and Vietnam. Since leaving active duty, he has devoted himself to providing support for the military, including organizing many “welcome home” events for returning troops.
Prior to joining the Coalition in 2008, Jim served for five years as chairman/director of the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ Military Assistance Program in California. In that capacity, he met well over 300,000 troops leaving and returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, and provided financial assistance to many military families that were in dire need. He also served on the VFW’s National Military Advisory Committee and was instrumental in many major policies to assist troops and their families throughout the United States. For his efforts, Jim was recognized in 2005 with a Points of Light Award, originally created by President George H.W. Bush to honors individuals and volunteer groups around the country who are helping to meet critical needs in their communities and creating change every day.
